For millennia, people have used dentures to restore oral function, improve speech patterns, and enhance their appearance. However, until recent years, dentures were often ill-fitting and uncomfortable. Today, Dr. Vlachakis offers beautiful, lifelike dentures that look and feel great. She provides several options, including both complete and partial dentures, and she will help you select the right restorations for your dental needs. No matter which type you select, you will enjoy greater freedom and self-confidence than you ever thought possible with dentures.
The Different Types of Dentures
At Healthy Smiles Family Dentistry, our dentures options include:
- Full dentures: If you are missing all or most of your teeth, Dr. Vlachakis will most likely recommend a full denture, which can restore your entire dental arch. Traditional full dentures are removable, and they rest on a gum-colored plastic base, which you will attach using denture adhesive.
- Partial dentures: If you still have some healthy teeth, a partial denture may be the right choice for you. These new teeth also rest on a pink base, and they use small, discreet metal clasps to attach to your natural teeth. Partial dentures are similar to dental bridges, but, unlike bridges, they are removable restorations.
- Implant supported dentures: Implant-supported dentures offer a permanent solution to missing teeth. Dr. Vlachakis works with a local oral surgeon, who will place four or more implant posts in your gums. When your gums have healed, your dentist will permanently affix your full or partial dentures to the posts. With dental implants, you can continue to eat a varied diet, and you will never have to worry about your dentures slipping out of place. If you have broken or cracked implant-supported dentures, visit our office for implant restoration.
